Introduce yourself and tell us about your educational background and what you do professionally?
My name is Funmi Ikede, I'm a graduate of Computer Engineering from Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, Nigeria. I run F.I.C events we are an event management company. And Refeef Engineering.

What ignited the spark in you to start a business venture or to make significant changes in an existing business? How did the idea for your business come about?
I felt the need to create a business that would challenge me everyday, and i also wanted to do something unique and different.

Interesting, at what point did your course of study become irrelevant and chose to pursue your current work?
When you study Engineering you are learn how to think and find as many ways to solve a particular equation or problem and how to work under alot of pressure and with planning exhibitions and events I am constantly faced with different problems so I feel my degree prepared me for some of those challenges. So I don't think my love for engineering will ever be irrelevant.

When did you start off officially and what is the name of your brand?
I started a 2 years ago. The name of my brand is F.I.C events, an event organising and planning company and the creators of Southern Business Expo.

How do you generate new ideas?
I sit and think about what I can do to make a difference or I sit with like minded individuals and we bounce ideas off each other.

How far are you willing to go to succeed?
My aim in life is not just to succeed but to make a difference in my generation, and I feel it's not just about how far I'm willing to go but also the grace of God that would make the difference.

What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?
I do not believe in having fears

What are your ideals?
If you can dream it you can be it, all you have to do is take a step.

How do you define success?
I believe success is when you can make a significant impact in those around you and your environment

What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?
I have learnt that you cannot do everything by yourself,I had to learn the importance of delighting ,to fulfilling any dream you need a team of like minded individuals that believe in your dream to help you actualize it.

How many hours do you work a day on average?
It's all depends on what I have to archive on that day. I'm the kind of person that would keep doing it till I finally get a result, so some days I work for a longer period and some days its shorter.

How long do you stick with an idea before giving up?
For a long time. I think that might also be one of my flaws I don't believe in giving up and so I would work and find different ways to work at a problem before thinking about giving up.

How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
It has created a life and job that I love waking up to and when you're happy it also affect your family positively.

What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
You need to know how to use the social media.
You need to believe in whatever you are trying to archive so when the challenges come you would be prepared.
Perseverance.

What are your goals long term goals?
To grow a business that would be listed as one of the top business in the world.

What three pieces of advice would you give to college students who want to become entrepreneurs?
You don't have to start with a big place or big company, start small and grow fast.
You need to believe in yourself and know how to represent your brand properly
You need to accept Jesus as your personal lord and savior because what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his life.
